

At Heidelberg, Leonhard restarted his business in the early 1820s and again, it rapidly became well known: for several decades the Heidelberger Mineralien-Compoir was one of Europe’s leading mineral shops. He ran the shop for about ten years before he moved, first to Munich, and then in 1818 to Heidelberg where he became a professor of mineralogy and geology.
